A risk that was not included in the comprehensive risk register developed by the college for Michaelmas term has crystalised, writes Tutor in Physics, Pat Roche.
When tutorials are conducted in person, doors and windows must be opened wide to ensure good ventilation. This exposes us to the risk of uninvited arrivals during the session. Today I am reporting one such event…..
Yesterday, a tutorial on optics was underway in my room, when a furry, stealthy individual gatecrashed the session. He snuck into the (first floor!) room, checked out the furniture and settled down in prime position to learn about image formation and magnification. However, far from remaining alert and contributing insightful questions, he seemed to relax and lose interest in the subject matter. Perhaps he is related to that other famous feline, Schrödinger’s cat, and will return for a future session on quantum mechanics or other topics more purrfectly aligned to his interests.
