Where you will live
We provide over five hundred bedrooms for our students, located at the main college site on Catte Street and at a number of other residential annexes and properties around the city centre.
Since 1995, we’ve been proud to provide accommodation to all undergraduate students that require it. All our undergraduate freshers (first-year students) are housed on our main college site, right in the heart of Oxford. You’ll be at the centre of our college community, close to the common room and dining hall, and living alongside other new students. In subsequent years you’ll be able to choose from our other accommodation options, which include purpose-built halls next to the River Thames and shared houses in north Oxford. We can also offer accommodation to the majority of graduate students who request it and have various sites for graduates around the city.
With a wide variety of buildings of different sizes and ages, no two rooms at Hertford are the same. All of our bedrooms are for single occupancy and include a single bed, desk, chair and storage. While there are some ensuite rooms available, the vast majority share kitchen and bathroom facilities, which are regularly cleaned by our housekeeping team. Wi-Fi is available in all college buildings, as well as across the University more widely. At Hertford we do not segregate our single occupancy accommodation by gender, so all staircases and corridors are mixed.
There is one standard rent for Hertford College accommodation, so all rooms cost the same price regardless of their location or facilities – you can consult our finance pages for undergraduate and graduate students to see the latest prices. Your rent includes all utilities and insurance (see more details below) though you should budget for additional costs like laundry. Laundry facilities provided by Circuit are available in or near to all accommodation buildings. Please note that we do not provide bedding and cannot offer parking spaces due to the constraints of our city centre buildings.
If you’ve got any questions, you can contact our Accommodation Team who will be pleased to help you.

Insurance
We provide a basic level of insurance for students’ possessions (including bikes, laptops, phones etc.) as well as some personal cover. The insurance is provided through Endsleigh, and you can add extra cover to suit your own needs (or simply check what is included) by using the My Endsleigh app.
