Leigh Douglas Memorial Prize of the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies

Congratulations to alumnus Dr Hashem Abushama (Human Geography, 2018), who was named joint runner up for the 2023 Leigh Douglas Memorial Prize for his dissertation Articulations: Settler Colonialism, Dispossession, and Arts in post-Oslo Palestine. The prize was established in 1986 in memory of Dr Leigh Douglas, who was killed in Beirut in 1986. Hashem is now a Departmental Lecturer and Career Development Fellow at Mansfield College.
