Hertford Fellows receive Frontiers of Science awards

Two Hertford Fellows have been recognised in the Frontiers of Science Awards.
Professor Dawid Kielak, along with co-authors Marek Kaluba and Piotr Nowak, received the award for their work on property T for automorphism groups of free groups. Professor Sid Parameswaran was recognised along with colleagues from the Rudolf Peierls Centre for Theoretical Physics for contributions to understanding the physics of twisted bilayer graphene.
The Frontiers of Science Awards are announced at the opening ceremony of the First International Congress of Basic Science, and spans 34 areas of mathematics, theoretical physics, and theoretical computer and information sciences. It aims to encourage young scholars to look to the frontiers of science, set goals to obtain breakthrough results, and contribute to humankind’s study of the mysteries of the natural world. Recipients are judged to have published research of great scientific value and originality, which makes an important impact on its area.
