Equalities Week
2 March 2018
Openness, diversity, and equality are values that are at the core of Hertford life throughout the year, but during February they have been at the forefront more than usual.
We celebrated the centenary of the Representation of the People Act 1918 and LGBTQ+ History Month, with flags flying proudly over the college. In addition, the student body organised Equalities Week: our recently-elected honorary fellow Soweto Kinch (1992) offered inspirational thoughts to the student body about diversity and its importance in an institution such as Hertford, as well as workshops, film screenings, diversity dinners (including a women’s formal, pictured), and guest speakers including Dr Clara Barker and the Oxford campaign group Class Act.
