Live-streaming and long service

With the academic year drawing to a close, it was time to bid a fond farewell to old friends. Principal Will Hutton wrapped up the last term of his nine-year principalship and, while it wasn’t what we were planning, we gave him a good socially-distanced send-off. We also said goodbye to Sue Finch, our Academic Administrator, who retired after a phenomenal 30 years at Hertford. Right-hand woman to countless colleges officers and four principals, Sue helped to cement Hertford’s reputation as a place where you can always find a friendly smile and sage advice (although not as many fax machines or electric typewriters as 1990).

July also saw our first-ever fully virtual Open Days, when thousands of online visitors met our tutors and student ambassadors. After 16 hours of live-streaming and over 30 pre-recorded videos, our student ambassadors and admissions and outreach team were looking forward to a summer staycation!
