Ellen MacDonald

Ellen is responsible for helping Hertford achieve its sustainability goals. She works across all college departments, engaging with fellows, staff and students to reduce our impact on the environment.

Ellen manages the college utilities and develops strategies to reduce carbon emissions and improve biodiversity, and is also secretary to the College Sustainability Working group. You can read more about sustainability at Hertford on our dedicated webpage.

She has a background in climate research with a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Glasgow, and previously worked as Environmental Sustainability Officer for St Antony’s College, Oxford. Ellen would love to hear from any interested fellows, staff or students who would like to know more about sustainability at Hertford and how they can make a difference.
