The Simpkin Dynasty

For many decades, one of central Oxford’s most loved and most notorious inhabitants has been Simpkin, the Hertford College cat.

The first Simpkin took up residence in the college in the early 1970s when Sir Geoffrey Warnock was Principal, and today his successor still keeps the Porters in check. Here you can learn about the various different feline members of Hertford and how they have left their own indelible marks not only on the college, but also the countless students who have manged to find a way of incorporating cat studies into almost every subject offered here!
