Maintenance Manager

Hertford College is seeking an experienced and practical Maintenance Manager to lead the in-house maintenance team.

Reporting to the Clerk of Works, the successful candidate will be responsible for the operational management of the maintenance team, ensuring the timely effective delivery of reactive and planned maintenance, by the team across the Hertford College estate.

The Maintenance Manager will play a key part in planning and delivering a safe, functional and well-presented environment for students, staff and visitors.  The post holder is based at the College main site at Catte Street, but they will be required to work across the College estate in Oxford.

 

The Role

  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the maintenance team
  • Supporting and leading the in-house maintenance team
  • Overseeing the maintenance request system and maintenance workflows
  • Ensuring maintenance works are completed efficiently and within agreed service levels
  • Supporting the coordination of maintenance works across the estate
  • Ensuring safe working practices within the maintenance team and workshop
  • Undertaking practical maintenance work within their trade where appropriate as part of a working manager role
  • Deputising for the Clerk of Works where required

 

About You

  • Experience working within building maintenance, estates, and facilities management
  • A recognized trade qualification, preferably in either an electrical or mechanical discipline
  • Experience supervising or managing maintenance teams and technical staff
  • Strong practical knowledge of building maintenance and building services
  • Experience working in a listed- building environment is not essential but would be advantageous
  • Knowledge and experience managing health and safety in construction and maintenance tasks
