Soweto Kinch Concert

11 July 2025 - 19:30

Award-winning alto saxophonist and MC, BBC presenter and Hertford Honorary Fellow Soweto Kinch is one of the most exciting and versatile musicians in both the British jazz and hip-hop scenes. He has amassed an impressive list of accolades including two MOBOs and a Mercury Award nomination.

Come to a performance of his new album at Festival Hall, Magdalen College School on Friday 11 July! In this world premiere, he completes a trilogy with ‘Black Peril’ and ‘White JuJu’. All three works are political, with Kinch as storyteller, narrating chronicles of historic and ongoing Black erasure and exploitation, of government ineptitude during the pandemic, and related themes. ‘Soundtrack to the Apocalypse’ continues this ambitious trajectory, with Kinch on multiple horns and electronics, fusing together jazz, hip hop, and other linked traditions from the African diaspora into an acute political statement.

This event is part of Oxford Festival of Arts, book here!
