Associate Professorship (or Professorship) in Mathematical Physics with Tutorial Fellowship

Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford, in association with Hertford College

The Mathematical Institute proposes to appoint an Associate Professor (or Professor) in Mathematical Physics from 1 October 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter. The successful candidate will be appointed to a Tutorial Fellowship at Hertford College under arrangements described in the job description.

 

The combined University and College salary scale has a minimum point of ÂŁ57,986 per annum, plus additional benefits including a housing allowance of ÂŁ12,433 per annum. An allowance of ÂŁ3,199 per annum would be payable upon award of Full Professor title.

 

The Associate Professor will join a thriving research community of applied mathematicians at Oxford, at the world-leading Mathematical Institute. They will play a leading role in helping to build further collaborations across the global research community, in addition to engaging with outreach activities to support the department in achieving its strategic aim to improve the diversity of its undergraduate and postgraduate student body, and in particular its gender diversity. They will be responsible for carrying out, disseminating the results of, obtaining funding for, and supervising research at a high international standard in the field of Mathematical Physics and for teaching a range of topics in mathematics via lectures, classes and tutorials. The successful candidate will have a PhD in mathematics or physics and a record of outstanding research in mathematical physics, and will complement, enhance and diversify the Mathematical Physics Research Group (https://www.maths.ox.ac.uk/groups/mathematical-physics/). They will be expected to teach effectively across a range of topics in mathematics.
