Videos trump the virus

With the world locked down due to Covid-19, we threw open our annual video competition and received more entries than ever before. Unsung Heroes of Science challenges teenagers to create a short video celebrating the work of a scientist that history has forgotten. This year’s videos told the stories of pioneers throughout history, from a 6th century Indian mathematician to a contemporary fashion designer using microbial cellulose to create eco-friendly textiles. Since they were published, this year’s videos have racked up an impressive 57,000 views, testament to the hard work of our entrants and the timeliness of their stories.
