Tobias Wolff is an American writer and academic who graduated from Hertford College in 1972.
He was writer-in-residence at Syracuse University and was appointed the Ward W. and Priscilla B. Woods Professor in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University in 1997. He has published short story collections, novels and memoirs and received a National Medal of Arts from President Barack Obama in September 2015.
