Research interests
Nick is currently working on a cluster of questions in philosophy of language, philosophy of linguistics, and social ontology. One significant focus is on the nature of linguistic entities such as words and sentences, and the contrasting conceptions of these provided in linguistics and philosophy. His work on this topic aims to uphold a scientific realist attitude regarding linguistic theory while resisting overly scientistic sceptical attitudes towards public language.
