Dr Frankie Perry
College Lecturer in Music
Frankie Perry is a College Lecturer in Music at Hertford, where she teaches tutorials for various musicology and music history topics. Elsewhere at Oxford she works part-time on the Elgar’s Themes project, and she also works part-time as Digital Music Collections Specialist at the British Library.
Frankie studied Music at Oxford before completing an AHRC-funded PhD at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2021, on 21st-century arrangements and reimaginings of 19th-century Lieder. Since then, she has worked primarily with music-related special collections at the British Library, initially in the Sound Archive and, since 2023, in Music Collections. She also held a postdoctoral role on the InterMusE digital musicology project at the University of York. Her interests include collections-based research, women’s musical archives, music and the digital humanities, and various areas of post-1800 Western classical music. She is currently pursuing research projects around the picture postcards of Edward Elgar and his family, and the archives of a number of 20th-century women musicians held at the British Library.
