Dr Benedikt Placke
Junior Research Fellow in Physics
Benedikt is a theoretical physicist broadly interested in condensed matter and quantum computing, and in exploring novel ways in which research in these two fields can compliment each other.
Before joining the University of Oxford as a Leverhulme-Peierls fellow, he obtained a Bachelor and Master of Physics from RWTH Aachen University, and a PhD degree from TU Dresden, where he worked with advisor Roderich Moessner (a former undergraduate student and current honorary fellow of Hertford College!) at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems.
He also teaches at Hertford, currently 2nd year Maths and Thermodynamics.
