Dr Ali Amini
College Lecturer in Medicine (Applied Physiology and Pharmacology)
Ali Amini is a Clinical Lecturer in the Nuffield Department of Medicine, combining laboratory-based human immunology research with clinical practice in Infectious Diseases and General Medicine.
He studied Natural Sciences and Clinical Medicine at Christ’s College, Cambridge, graduating with Distinction and the George Peter Baker Prize. He subsequently trained in General Medicine and Infectious Diseases in London before moving to Oxford (St John’s College) to undertake a Wellcome Trust-funded DPhil with Paul Klenerman on innate-like T cells in early antiviral and vaccine responses. His current research combines systems immunology and quantitative physiology to understand how tissue microenvironments shape early protective and pathogenic T-cell responses.
Teaching
At Hertford, Ali has tutored Applied Physiology and Pharmacology to second-year medical students since 2022. He also teaches across infection and immunity at undergraduate and graduate levels, and supervises laboratory projects.
