Bill Macmillan came to Oxford in 1984 as a Lecturer in the School of Geography and Fellow of Hertford College. He served as Senior Tutor at Hertford and was elected as University Proctor in 1995, going on to serve as Pro-Vice-Chancellor from 2002. Between 2006- 2009 he acted as the University of East Anglia Vice-Chancellor.
