Two Hertford Law Alumni in Supreme Court in Northern Irish Appeal
10 February 2020
Last month, two Northern Irish Hertford lawyers appeared before the Supreme Court in a rare appeal in a commercial matter from the Court of Appeal in Northern Ireland.
Margaret Gray (1992) and Alistair Fletcher (2002) are barristers who were undergraduates and postgraduates at Hertford and benefited – a decade apart – from the outstanding teaching and support of Roy Stuart during his years as tutor and Dean. The Supreme Court proceedings, which concerned the application of the doctrine against restraint of trade to a land agreement in County Derry, were heard by five justices and judgment is pending.
