Photos from the Bridge Centenary Celebrations
14 October 2013
We recently marked the 100th anniversary of the construction of Hertford’s bridge over New College Lane with a series of events on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th September.
The programme began with an access day for potential applicants from state schools, followed by an exchange on the future of higher education between Sir Peter Lampl, chairman of the Sutton Trust, and Mary Curnock Cook OBE, chief executive of UCAS.
The celebrations also included: talks on Hertford academics’ current research; Hertford’s vision for the future presented by Will Hutton; a lecture on the history of the Bridge of Sighs by Dr William Whyte; and the screening of a new film about Hertford by the award-winning film producer Anthony Geffin, chief executive of Atlantic Productions.
Photos from both days are available on flickr.
