Liaison with Laclos

Last week the small group of students pictured, all studying A Level French at Maria Fidelis School in Camden, came to visit Hertford.

And it would be no exaggeration to say that they were seduced by the text they encountered in the academic session with our Lecturer in French, Dr Sara-Louise Cooper. ‘A fascinating seminar,’ their teacher, Georgie Speller, wrote afterwards, ‘and the girls have all clamoured for me to buy them a copy of the book!’ It was, of course… Laclos’s epistolary novel, Les Liaisons Dangeureuses.
