Music lecturer releases new album
23 April 2020
The latest album from iyatraQuartet, Break the Dawn, will be released tomorrow and you can join their Live Listen Along on YouTube from 7pm.
The band have worked together for the last seven years, creating original music born out of group improvisation. College Lecturer in Music, Dr Alice Barron, plays the violin with her fellow band members turning their hands to the cello, clarinets and percussion. The new album celebrates transformation, literal and metaphorical, and was recorded in London’s Union Chapel.
Rather than a traditional launch concert, which would be impossible due to the current lockdown, the group will be hosting a Live Listen Along on their YouTube channel from 7-8pm on Friday 24th April. We’re particularly looking forward to hearing ‘Alpine Flowers’, a piece from the album composed in the Somerville College Chapel with words taken from the memorial plaques on the walls.
You can follow iyatraQuartet on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and can pre-order ‘Break the Dawn’ from their website.
