International Women’s Day

8 March 2022

We’re celebrating International Women’s Day today with a gathering in the marquee for our staff and student community.

We came together this morning to enjoy coffee, pastries and performances from students in celebration of women and gender equality. First-year Biochemist Molly Jeffries spoke about her experience as a woman in science and organ scholar Andrew Liu performed ‘Kokopeli’, a piece for solo flute by the flautist-composer Katherine Hoover (1937-2018). The event was organised by Prof. Fernanda Duarte (Tutor for Equality & Diversity), Harini Iyer (JCR Women’s* Rep), and Amber Truepenny (MCR Equalities Rep).

Over on our Bridge blog, we’ve interviewed the three women who lead this year’s JCR executive – President Eloise George, Secretary Orlaith Lindsay and Treasurer Riya Wadhwa – about their ambitions and inspirations.
