Hertford Physicist wins Commonwealth judo bronze
15 November 2019
We’re giving a big pat on the back to third-year Physics student Alexander Hampshire after securing a spot on the podium at this year’s under-21 Commonwealth Judo Championships.
Alex was selected to represent England – the only Oxford University student to be selected for this year’s team. He was delighted to win a bronze medal, especially in the company of six Oxford city players in the veterans categories.
The Commonwealth Championships are not Alex’s only success story. Last year he won his first bronze at the under-21 British Championships, as well as a silver medal at BUCS, the UK’s universities competition. At Oxford, Alex has captained the Judo team to a 10th successive varsity win and been named Oxford University Sportsman of the Year.
Congratulations Alex – we can’t wait to hear about your next Judo adventures!
