Hertford Mixed Lacrosse Team wins Cuppers

Many congratulations to Hertford’s mixed lacrosse team, who teamed up with Oriel College to win Cuppers at the weekend. The one-day round robin tournament saw five other joint college teams involved, and with Hertford starting the day with a rather sparse side of five players, they joined forces with Oriel about 20 minutes before the first match.

Despite their last-minute amalgamation, the Hertford/Oriel side ended the tournament as the only undefeated team and didn’t concede more than a goal in each match, beating last year’s winners (Saints) in a tense last match and nabbing the trophy just in time for the team photo the next day.

Hertford’s mixed lacrosse team has only been playing for a few months, having been set up by undergraduates Julia Eden and Sean Baldock earlier this year. All the more incredible to see how far they have come in such a short period. Watch this space!
