Hertford College Rugby Club tour to Mongolia 2013
8 June 2012
Hertford College Rugby Club, together with a Hertford College Old Boys Squad, will be going on tour to Mongolia in August 2013. The Mongolian RFU was established in 2003 and is a member Union of Asian RFU as well as Mongolian Olympic Committee.
- Rugby is one of the fastest growing team sports in Mongolia
- Rugby has been identified for development in high schools and universities around Mongolia
- The Mongolian national team, as well as competing in the Asian Five Nations tournament, have participated in social and international tournaments including Beijing, Hong Kong, Phillipines, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and recently in Asian Games and in Shanghai
Hertford College Rugby Club will take a squad of 20-25 players to Mongolia for two weeks in August 2013. The tour will involve five matches and will include a number of outreach, development and charity activities involving Mongolian youth teams, schools and universities.
A Hertford College Old Boys’ squad will accompany them. The Old Boys will include both playing and non-playing members.
The tour is an important and memorable part of rugby, allowing the team the opportunity to bond both on and off the field, and also to reach out to and meet players from other communities. An international tour is a unique opportunity to visit and experience other countries and cultures engaging with people in a way that leads to lasting associations and friendships.
