Alumni golfing
2 May 2019
Our alumni golf team has been out on the greens again, with two recent fixtures.
The college had two alumni golf outings in March and April in what has now become an established annual tradition. First up was the Hertford-only day out at the prestigious Swinley Forest golf club in Berkshire. As ever, Swinley presented both the golf course and the three course lunch in immaculate condition. Used as an informal warm up/qualification day for April’s inter-college event, this year produced some fine scores with Ian Welsh taking home a well earned (and well-chosen!) bottle of single malt following 35 stableford points.
Unfortunately, the fine form at Swinley rather deserted the team for April’s inter-college event at Frilford Heath in Oxford with the team coming in a relatively modest 13th place (with Christ Church this year’s victors and therefore hosts for next year’s dinner) though a good day was had by all.
For anyone wishing to get involved in the alumni golf team’s outings, please contact Duncan Chisholm (djchisholm@gmail.com – Physics, 1997). Having won the inter-college Frilford Heath event 3 times since first entering in 2009, the team is keen for some fresh faces to help restore Hertford to the top of the tree! Current and former students and academic staff are all very welcome. Aside from our attempts to return the team to winning ways, alumni golf days are first and foremost fun and social events on excellent golf courses which are also a great way of staying in touch with the college. Little wonder that they have become firm favourites in the calendar of those who attend!
