Bio: ‘I came to Hertford for the BCL already curious about how law keeps up with technology. As a teenager I’d tinkered with small open-source web projects, which left me wondering how you can have real-world, enforceable rights over something as intangible as lines of code – and what that means once software is shared, remixed and reused online.
I’m now an associate in the IP & Cyber team at Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer in London. I split my time between high-stakes disputes (including patent cases about semiconductor technology and trade secret/copyright claims in the online gaming sector) and advisory work on cyber incidents, export controls and generative AI projects. I enjoy work that sits where law, technology and commercial strategy all collide.
I’d be very happy to speak to current students who are curious about intellectual property, cyber security, “tech law” more broadly, or life as a City disputes/tech associate – whether that’s about what the work is actually like, thinking about the BCL, or how to make sense of all the acronyms’.
