“When I applied to Hertford, I had an idea that I wanted to get involved in medical research, but I also had an interest in writing. As an undergrad, I went to a bioscience careers event and heard about the medical communications industry, which provides consultancy services to pharmaceutical companies to help raise awareness of medicines. After completing a DPhil in Pharmacology, I was offered a writing job at a medical communications agency, which brought my interests in research and writing together and used some of the knowledge and skills gained from my studies. I now carry out similar work on a freelance basis, which gives me the flexibility to work where and when I like.
