Jeremy Boon

Strategy and Analytics Manager at Deloitte

Name: Jeremy Boon

Matriculation Year: 2008

Subject: Geography

Occupation: Strategy and Analytics Manager at Deloitte

LinkedIn: Jeremy Boon

“I work as a Technology consultant, helping clients looking to build their Analytics, AI and Automation capabilities. I am responsible for leading client projects, managing a team of analytics professionals and providing expertise on data and analytics. My clients are mainly in the Technology sector and my role takes me from strategic consultancy work through to hands-on technical delivery.

I went into consulting after graduating primarily because it offered the opportunity to learn new skills whilst being able to direct my career towards my key interests, particularly digital technology. I developed my interest in cybersecurity and analytics from my dissertation, but having approached it from a social sciences perspective I didn’t feel I had the technical experience required to pursue a graduate job. Additionally, consulting seemed like a much more established career path, with experience weeks and placements, where I could get a feel for the job and what was required. Over time, I managed to find my niche and it’s become an area in which I’ve been proud to build a career.

The tech industry is an exciting and vibrant place to be though not always an easy one, particularly if you’re from an underrepresented background. Whilst there is a general will in most places to make the industry more inclusive, actions have often fallen short. For my own part, I work to drive diversity of all kinds within my direct teams and I mentor/coach a number of professionals outside of work.

I’m happy to speak to anyone interested in the tech industry, consulting or related areas, (all backgrounds welcome). I’m also happy to speak with BME students on particular challenges they may face and how they might overcome them.”

If you would like to get in touch with Jeremy, message him directly on LinkedIn or contact the Development Office who can forward on your email.
