“I came to Hertford in 2014 – certain I would complete my MPhil then move onto a DPhil before focusing on Policy/Research in the Civil Service. I am still deeply interested in politics and international relations but turned down my DPhil offer to become a public sector management consultant at PwC from 2016-2020. Consulting is a great way to start a career as it enables you to see and understand the inner workings of a wide range of organisations, and change them! At PwC I worked on projects for the UK MoD, the Police, the Ministry of Justice, an Ombudsman Service and with utilities companies to deliver strategy and operational/digital transformations. Trying to design and deliver change in this way is both challenging and rewarding. An increasing focus in the market on digital transformation and tech saw me make the leap into tech, to AppDynamics, where I focus on enabling customers to work with a range of software products. Once again I find myself convincing teams to change the way they work.
