“Hi Everyone! My name is Alex and I am a Renewable Energy Investment Analyst at Schroders. I am responsible for analysing companies from across the world in the renewable energy space and coming up with investment ideas for the investment fund that I work on. After finishing my Geography degree at Hertford I really wanted to find someway of putting what I had learnt to good use. I went on to do a MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation to learn about some of the more applied aspects of environmental science and got particularly interested in the fast-growing world of environmental finance and sustainable investment. I am a big believer that finance has a social purpose and that the actions of companies are hugely important in driving social change. Being able to engage with renewable energy companies and help provide finance for them to grow is therefore hugely rewarding – as is trying to generate an investment return for my clients. It is also great that I get to use a lot of what I learnt in my degrees while doing my analysis! More than happy to meet with anyone interested in finance (whether that be environmentally focused or not!) or anyone who wants to find out what they can do with their geography degree! The possibilities are endless.”
