Keith McLauchlan pioneered flash photolysis electron spin resonance (ESR), to provide identification of free radicals in solution, using novel concepts and new technology. He is a co-discoverer of electron spin polarisation in chemical reactions. Pioneer of Spin Chemistry. He has broadcast on the effects of environmental electromagnetic fields on humans and is recognised by international prizes and visiting professorships. He has served on national, international and university committees.
