Richard W. Fisher

Honorary Fellow

Richard W. Fisher is a Senior Advisor to Jefferies Inc. and previously served as Senior Advisor to Barclays, Plc. He is on the boards of Tenet Healthcare and Warner Brothers Discovery, and was previously on the boards of ATT and PepsiCo. Fisher was President and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas from 2005 to 2015, where he was a member of the Federal Open Market Committee and chaired the Conference of Federal Reserve Bank Presidents. His tenure at the Federal Reserve is chronicled in the book “Fed Up” by Danielle DiMartino Booth.

Before joining the Dallas Fed, Fisher was Vice-Chairman of Kissinger McLarty Associates and Senior Advisor of FCM Investors. He served as Deputy United States Trade Representative from 1997 to 2001, responsible for U.S. trade policy and negotiations in Asia, Latin America, and Mexico and Canada.

Fisher began his career at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co and served as Assistant to the Secretary of the Treasury during the Carter Administration. His education includes Admiral Farragut Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford. He has taught at the University of Texas and served on the Board of Overseers of Harvard. Fisher is a first-generation American, the son of an Australian father and South African mother of Norwegian descent. He is fluent in Spanish and English, and has received numerous awards for his contributions.

Richard and his family have been generous donors to several institutions, including Harvard, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and various secondary schools. The DeGolyer Library at Southern Methodist University is the repository of the “Richard Fisher Papers”.
