We’ve all read the recent headlines about diversity at Oxford – and we know that there’s still a long way to go on admissions to the university.

Hertford has a proud history of opening up to state-educated students and to women – but we are not complacent about the ongoing challenges. We’re working with schools, with teachers, with UNIQ and other summer schools and access initiatives, and with our own brilliant students, to encourage and support students from all backgrounds to apply to us and to be successful when they get here. You can meet some Hertfordians past and present who talk about the college and their experience here on our HertFolk pages.

We want you to know that if you’ve just applied to us we will assess your application fairly, and that if you’re shortlisted for interview, you will get the chance to discuss your academic interests and your ambitions in an interview that will be respectful as well as intellectually challenging.
