Dr Ian Carroll

Ian has been a Lecturer in Politics at Hertford College since 2024. For his MPhil and DPhil degrees, he was a student at Nuffield College. Before that, he took an undergraduate degree in Economic & Social Studies at Trinity College, Dublin.

At Hertford, Ian teaches a number of papers in political theory, including the Introduction to the Theory of Politics paper for first-year students, and the core Theory of Politics paper for upper-year students.

His research interests are in contemporary political philosophy, focusing in particular on game-theoretic approaches to social contract theory and on the political philosophy of money and banking.
