Krishnan Guru-Murthy was an undergraduate at Hertford College (PPE, 1989)
Krishnan Guru-Murthy is the main anchor of Channel 4 News, the presenter of foreign affairs documentary series Unreported World and hosts the Ways to Change the World and Fourcast podcasts. He was named Network Presenter of the Year in 2022 at the Royal Television Society Journalism Awards.
Krishnan joined Channel 4 in 1998 after beginning his career at the BBC in 1988 on youth tv programmes Open to Question and Reportage. He presented the BBC’s Newsround programme during his undergraduate years at Hertford College, Oxford before going on to work for Newsnight and the BBC News channel.
He has covered nine UK general elections, hosts election night and political debates for Channel 4 as well as commentating on major events such as the Paralympics. Krishnan has covered the conflicts in Bosnia and Croatia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, Ukraine and Gaza.
He is on the board of trustees at Kew Gardens, Chairman of the charity Duchenne UK and was in the class of 2023 in the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
