Bannister Community Mile

This coming Bank Holiday Monday the University is celebrating 70 years since Roger Bannister ran the first sub-four minute mile at the Iffley Road sports ground. To mark this momentous occasion, a ‘community mile’ has been organised, open to all abilities and ages from 6 up. The course will start on St Aldate’s and proceed down the High Street, crossing Magdalen Bridge before finishing on Iffley Road, where finisher medals will be presented. Later in the day, there will also be a series of track races, with food and drink stalls on site, which all are welcome to attend.

A Hertford College group has been created, and we have been given a discount code for students. By joining the same group, college members will get to start together in the same wave. To sign up, head to the Community Mile entry page, and follow these simple steps:
