Tanner scheme portrait display
In 2015/16, Hertford displayed a new set of portraits in Hall, featuring 21 beneficiaries of an initiative that defines the college’s commitment to fairness and opportunity: the Tanner Scheme.
Through these portraits we want to highlight social mobility in action. These alumni – among many more, too numerous to photograph! – came from modest backgrounds and were admitted to Hertford at the instigation of Neil Tanner and his colleagues. They have gone on to a wide range of rewarding and impactful careers, and just as importantly, with the mind-set that anything is possible. Diversity and excellence go hand in hand.
