“I long struggled with understanding what I wanted to get out of a career – despite always wanting to be a lawyer (even before I knew what that actually entailed). Like many newly qualified solicitors I didn’t quite feel fulfilled in my chosen career path and I spent many years considering alternatives. This eventually led me to working at an international NGO in their Legal and Donor Compliance team for much of the last decade.
During my time at Hertford I was really lucky to get involved in a number of different interests and I think that desire for variety and fun has stayed with me. As such earlier this year I was fortunate to transition into working as a freelance/consultant in-house lawyer. It allows me a wider range of clients and also the flexibility to pursue other interests such as start-ups and writing – I have spent much of the last year working on my first novel.
