Student conductor scales new heights
4 March 2019
Charlotte Corderoy, second-year Music student at Hertford, has been appointed as the new Music Director of Oxford University Philharmonia.
As one of our two organ scholars at Hertford, Charlotte leads the musical life of the college and our Chapel. During her time at Oxford, Charlotte has been Assistant Conductor of the Oxford University Wind Orchestra, as well as Conducting Scholar of the Schola Cantorum of Oxford choir.
She’s also pursed several musical projects of her own, most recently conducting Handel’s Jephtha with world-renowned tenor James Gilchrist. In May she will conduct the UK premier of Gavin Bryars’ contemporary opera Marilyn Forever. Charlotte will conduct Oxford University Philharmonia from next term for a full academic year – watch this space to find out where you can see her next!
