It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the death of Kenny Lewis.
Kenny was, for several decades, a central part of Hertford life. He joined the college in July 1978, aged 15, and was at the heart of the college community for over 40 years. He was always full of enthusiasm for the college and its people, and so many of us hold fond memories of him striding around OB Quad with a huge grin, full of news. In the words of Professor Christopher Tyerman, whose tribute upon Kenny’s retirement can be found here, ‘the Lewis smile could light a parish.’
Kenny will be remembered as a truly remarkable SCR Butler and the star player in the college football team in the 1980s as an imposing centre forward. Most of all, he will be remembered as a loyal friend to Fellows, staff and students alike. He will be greatly missed by us all.
We will be in touch soon with details of how we will celebrate Kenny’s immense contribution to Hertford. The flag is at half-mast in his memory.
