Prize for Hertford Geographer
7 January 2014
Hertford Geographer, Hannah Smith, has been awarded the Quaternary Research Association’s annual prize for her undergraduate dissertation – ‘Using species distribution modelling to understand the mid-Holocene hemlock decline in North America’. The assessors praised Hannah’s work for findings that ‘are soundly based and strengthen published statements about the place of a climatic driver as a sole or partial cause of the Tsuga decline’, and as a potential model for studies of similar rapid vegetation change in other areas. Many congratulations, Hannah!
