Two Teaching Excellence Awards from Medical Sciences Division

19 October 2021

Congratulations are in order for Prof. David Greaves and Prof. Alison Woollard, who have been recognised for their outstanding teaching and supervision by the University’s Medical Sciences Division.

Tutorial Fellow in Medicine, Professor David Greaves, received the flagship Major Educator award for his ongoing commitment to high quality, innovative teaching and for his strong support of student career development. Both before and adaptively during the pandemic, Prof. Greaves developed significant and innovative online training resources which have helped to revolutionise teaching and learning within the Medical Sciences Division.

“I have been particularly impressed by David’s commitment to providing educationally rewarding online equivalents to laboratory class teaching during the disruptions arising from the pandemic,” says a colleague. One of his former students goes on: “One of David’s greatest strengths [is] his willingness to give you the freedom to develop ideas and projects without passing judgement on risk.”

Hertford was also represented by Professor Alison Woollard, Tutorial Fellow in Biochemistry, who was recognised with the Excellent Supervisor Award. This award recognises individuals who make a major contribution to the wellbeing and academic progress of students whom they are supervising on research projects.
