Hertford victorious in first round of University Challenge

Hertford has beaten the Open University in its first round match of University Challenge, broadcast on BBC 2 on Monday 4 September. Team members Daniel Whittle (Captain), Oliver Sourbut, Omer Keskin and Rupa Balakrishnan Raju won with 230 points (against OU’s 155), one of the highest scores so far in this round of the competition. The team is represented by both the JCR and MCR and a whole variety of disciplines, showing the full array of the Hertford academic life.

This is the first series of the iconic quiz show to be hosted by Amol Rajan, who has succeeded Jeremy Paxman after 29 years in the quizmaster’s chair.
