Hertford/UNIQ partnership
31 January 2014
Applications for the 2014 UNIQ summer schools are now open (the closing date, if you are interested in a hard-working and stimulating study week in Oxford in the summer, finding out what it is like to be a student on one of our academic courses, is 24 February), so it seems a good time to review some of Hertford’s participation in the highly successful 2013 programme.
In Law, where Dr Alison Young was a lecturer and where one of the dinners was hosted in Hertford, 80 students came on the study week. 54 went on to apply to Oxford, of whom 17, including one at Hertford, were made offers. Dr Emma Smith was involved in the English UNIQ week: 31 students made an application and 12 were made offers, including two at Hertford. In addition, Professor David Greaves hosted a Hertford dinner for UNIQ medics, and Dr Ben Skipp was Course Director for the Music week, where our Registrar Matthew Hiscock also gave an admissions talk. This year we’ll be hosting some of the students again in our college accommodation, and look forward to meeting them and helping them with decisions and applications to Oxford. So do have a look at the UNIQ website and think about joining in.
