Hertford alumnus and former Fellow John Dewar appointed Vice-Chancellor of La Trobe University

Professor John Dewar has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of La Trobe University, and will take up his position from January 2012.
Professor Dewar studied for both his BA in Law and BCL at Hertford during the late 1970s and early 1980s, before returning as a CUF Lecturer and serving as a Fellow from 1990 to 1995. His specialisms whilst at Hertford were family law, constitutional law, land law and trusts.
He is an internationally known family law specialist, and has lived in Australia for the last 16 years. During this time he has had extensive experience in the higher education sector and has held senior positions at both Griffith University and The University of Melbourne.
