Excellence in teaching

Hertford is delighted that both Professor Peter Millican (Philosophy) and Dr Kevin Hilliard (Modern Languages) have been nominated for a prestigious accolade, taking two of the five places on the shorlist for the ‘Most Acclaimed Lecturer’ for the Humanities Division. The award, which recognises excellence in teaching, is made by the Oxford University Student Union and the shortlist is drawn up from nominations received from current students. To qualify for the shortlist, Peter and Kevin gave lectures that students considered engaging and informative, that left them with a strong grasp of their subject area and a desire to learn more. Their audiences felt that they expressed visible enthusiasm, were keen to answer questions, and were approachable and responsive. They can’t both win (we think) but it is good to know that students across the university value their teaching as much as we do.
