Bridges Photo Competition
13 March 2014
To prove how much Hertfordians love to look forward, overcome obstacles and create bonds, you are all invited to participate to “BRIDGES”, the first Hertford Photographic Competition!
The competition is part of the celebrations for the Bridge of Sighs centenary. Seven winner pictures will be chosen, printed, framed and displayed at the BRIDGES Photo Exhibition, to be held in the MCR Octagon in Trinity term.
WHAT: A bridge is something intended to connect two far apart, possibly incompatible things. Shoot a photo of your own bridge. It doesn’t have to be made of bricks or stones, it just have to show a positive, either metaphoric or real connection between things or people. Amaze us with you creativity and don’t be discouraged of not being a pro photographer! Give your picture a title and submit it with a short description of what it represents for you.
WHO: all JCR ad MCR students, Hertford fellows and members of staff can participate.
WHEN: The submission window is from March 13th to May 11th 2014 (midnight).
HOW: send your pictures in flattened JPEG format, cropped to a 1.25 aspect ratio to bridges [at] hertford [dot] ox [dot] ac [dot] uk, or by using the form. Due to the quite big size of the final prints it’s recommended to send pictures shot with more than 12 Mpixels.
WHY: because it is the coolest event of the year and the winner pics will be printed on 40x50cm photo paper, framed and shown in the BRIDGES Photographic exhibition in the MCR Octagon during Trinity Term. Winner pictures may become part of the permanent Hertford’s artworks. It’s your chance to be on College’s walls forever!
This is an event sponsored by the College. Participants don’t have to print and frame the photos: we will take care of everything!
