Amelia Bowman wins the 2023 Vaughan Williams Prize in Clinical Medicine
6 July 2023
The Hertford College Vaughan Williams Prize in Clinical Medicine has been awarded in 2023 to Dr Amelia Bowman. Since 2020, the prize is awarded annually to the Year 6 medical student (studying at Hertford) who submits the highest scoring portfolio of achievement during their three years in clinical school.
Dr Miles Vaughan Williams was the first medical tutor at Hertford and is remembered fondly by generations of former students. A fund he set up helps support this prize and much more, for the benefit of our medical students throughout their six years of training.
Recently qualified and about to start working at Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital as a Foundation doctor, Amelia submitted a superb application for the prize. She scored well in all eight domains, participating in audits, research projects, teaching junior students and numerous extracurricular activities, as well as performing in exemplary fashion on the wards.
Congratulations to Amelia and also to her four Hertford peers who qualified in Medicine this year.
